T Star Signs 5G MOU with Nokia
August 05, 2016

T Star (Taiwan Star Telecom) signed a 5G MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Nokia to jointly develop NB-IoT (Narrow-Band Internet of Things) technology, reported China Times on August 5. NB-IoT is the key to 5G applications due to its low bandwidth and high penetration, and T Star is expected to be the island's first telecom to commercialize such service. The two parties will launch a 5G laboratory and an experimental network in 2017 to explore business models of vertical integration in fields of smart city, medical care, smart grid, and smart home. In addition, T Star announced to join AIoTA (Asia IoT Alliance), a private-sector IoT alliance, said the report.
